Parking and Transportation in Fishtown

If you're parking on the street regularly, get a Philadelphia Parking Authority residential permit — without one, Fishtown's permit blocks will ticket you. For getting around, the Market-Frankford Line runs the length of the neighborhood along Front St, and most of Fishtown is walkable or bikeable.

What to know in Fishtown

  • Residential parking permit. Apply through the Philadelphia Parking Authority with proof of residency (like a lease) and your vehicle registration.
  • Moving-day “No Parking” permit. The PPA can post temporary no-parking signs to hold curb space for a moving truck. Apply ahead of time — this is not something you can arrange the morning of.
  • SEPTA Market-Frankford Line. Fishtown stops run along Front St, including Girard, Berks, and York-Dauphin — a few minutes’ ride to Center City.
  • Bikes. Frankford Ave and the side streets are commonly used for cycling, and the Delaware River Trail runs along the waterfront a few blocks east.
